What We Believe

What we believe is essential to who we are as a church family.  Below are statements explaining the guiding factors in our faith and fellowship.

WE BELIEVE...

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and we desire to live according to its teaching
    in the deity of Christ
  • In the Trinity:  Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit and in the virgin Birth
  • In the bodily Resurrection that Christ paid for the sin of believers once and for all
  • In salvation by grace through personal faith in Christ and not by works
  • In the baptism of the Holy Spirit
  • In the literal Second Coming of Christ
  • In a literal eternal Heaven and a literal eternal Hell

BIBLE:  The entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments are the divinely inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.

GOD:  There is one eternal, almighty and perfect God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST:  Jesus Christ is true God and true Man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all men.  He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of the Father, as our High priest and Advocate.

MAN:  Man was created in the image of god, but fell into sin and therefore was separated from God.

WATER BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER:  Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age.

HOLY SPIRIT:  We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a second work of grace in which God pours out His Spirit with an outward manifestation of a holier lifestyle to be witnesses for Christ and the evidence of speaking in tongues.

CHURCH:  The true Church is composed of all those who are born-again.  Through this new birth, we are united together with the body of Christ.  Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.

SECOND COMING:  Jesus Christ will come again and it may be at any time.  We must be prepared to receive Him.

RESURRECTION:  There will be a bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment.

HEAVEN AND HELL:  There is a real Heaven prepared for those who are prepared (believers in Christ) and a real Hell prepared for those not trusting in Christ.
